Summertime in Hope Valley portfolioWhile the sun is baking us down in the Valleys with 100 degree heat, there is still snow up at 8500 feet in the Sierras. Everything is at peak bloom in the Sierra alpine zone. Though the fishing was disappointing at Red Lake this weekend, every small creek in the valley is chock full of little brookies that are a blast to catch. The panoramas in this portfolio are composite images that can be printed up to 40 inches wide.

Ely Nevada on the Fourth of July portfolioEly, Nevada is a USA microcosm, a town that stands alone, isolated from the outside world. It was the ultimate melting pot for european immigrants looking for a new life and a promise of prosperity with the workings of a copper mine. The town withered when the mine went away and by determination hangs on today. It returns to its former glory briefly every Fourth of July, when those who still remember COME HOME.

The road to Hinkey Summit portfolioThis is a place I have returned to many times to capture the epic mega-bloom of Wyethia on the lower terraces of Hinkey Summit. There are always images to be captured. This year the blooms were a full month late and not of the magnitude of the shots I captured in 2006. Still it was a worthwhile trip, wandering through the aspens with my long time friend, Ed Partee, who now oversees the game programs for NDOW for Humboldt County. We will be back next spring to do it again.

Favorites from 2009 portfolioThis portfolio contains my favorite images from the last calendar year. I have learned that the more we work at getting good images, the tougher it seems to get. It takes time afield with camera in hand to get worthy shots. I'll keep after it!!

Shooting the West Scenes from the Weekend portfolioDuring the weekend of Shooting the West held in Winnemucca the second weekend in March. My frends and I had a good time photographing in Winnemucca and on the way home. We shot photos in Water Canyon above town, at Thunder Mt., RyePatch, an old time stamp mill and tufa formations near Lovelock. Here some of my favorite shots from that trip.
